Western-themed Wedding | Evergreen Lake House | Evergreen, Colorado

Melissa and Matt had grand plans for an Evergreen Lake House wedding with a ceremony on the lake, but the weather certainly kept us on our toes. As I pulled up to the hotel where they were getting ready, the clouds were rolling in ominously. The girls were checking the weather every few minutes and trying to decide what they should do. The guys, however, didn’t seem too phased. Perhaps the Jack Daniels helped 😉

I loved the rustic touches Melissa and Matt added to their decor. It definitely fit in with the surroundings and showed a lot of their personality.

After delaying the ceremony for 15 minutes, the clouds finally parted and the sun popped out. They could have an outdoor ceremony afterall! I’m not sure if it was from the stress leading up to the ceremony or the magnitude of the moment (maybe a little of both?) but Matt couldn’t hold his tears in from the moment Melissa walked out the door. I love it when grooms tear up a bit. Gets me every time!

Matt and Melissa were not just marrying each other. They were also making vows to bring their children together in one family. While it can be tricky to get three small children to do what you want, when you want it, the rusults were pretty adorable.

Luckily, the weather continued to cooperate and we were able to walk around the lake and allow Melissa and Matt a few quiet moments before returning to their guests. The area around Evergreen Lake House is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for wedding photos.

When we returned to the reception, it was time to change into more comfortable shoes and get to dancing! Apparently, Matt had forgotten to practice one important thing. Where exactly do you put your hands when you dance with your Mom?

As the sun began to set and the evening wound down, we took a few minutes to enjoy the sunset over the lake. It was such a serene moment at the end of a constantly busy day. We even saw some deer in the distance!
